Before the morning leaves

On an early autumn morning, the room sleeps in near darkness as the curtains hide the beginning of a new day. I consciously stare at the ceiling; it feels far too early to wake up, but there is far too much on my mind. As I drowsily get on my feet to prepare tea and watch the world from the misty window, I take notice of the quiet transition to morning. The day has arrived.

Stepping outside, I can feel the season change.

Fog suffocates the neighborhood, and maple leaves crunch beneath my boots as my face is greeted by autumn's cold, familiar air and my eyes by the gray backdrop of the sky. It’s hard to describe, but it feels like home, and I want to take it all in with you before the morning leaves.
